Tata Nano Active Twist Spotted with Camo – Openable Fifth door to tackle Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Datsun Go and Hyundai i10

Tata Motors has already started testing a major upgrade for the Nano series of hatch backs which is expected to be unveiled by the end of June most probably. An enthusiast has spotted a test mule of the Nano series which is considered to be that of the upcoming Nano Twist Active. A set of spy images of the same have been revealed over web which have clearly revealed the open able fifth door of the same. However, Tata has not yet moved a lip about the Facelift Edition Nano Active Twist.

The manufacturer has showcased the facelift edition of Active Twist at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 which was held in the month of February, 2014 at Greater Noida. The respective concept form shown at the Expo was wearing smiley faced front fascia whereas the current test mule spotted was not having the same. However, we can expect the production version of the hatch back to feature the same. We can clearly observe the handle bar on the rear fascia of the test mule from the respective spy images. It clearly states that the hatch door of the vehicle can be opened and it will be one of the most significant changes in the facelift Edition hatch Nano Active Twist.

The current gen edition of the hatchback comes powered with a 624 CC three cylinder petrol engine that is capable of generating around 37 HP power at the peak along with 51 Nm of torque. We can expect the manufacturer to continue with the same engine most probably as it delivering around 25.35 kmpl mileage on an average when mated to a five speed manual transmission and a four speed automated manual transmission gearbox as per ARAI. However, the Facelift edition of the Nano Active Twist may offer a five speed Magnetti Marelli sourced transmission system for higher end variants. Tata is hoping for a breakthrough with the Facelift hatchback as it is going to be the cheapest automated car in India.
