Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV Scored 5/5 in Chinese Crash tests – Indian launch by the end of 2015?

Hyundai has already launched the India based compact sports utility vehicle ix25 in global markets. The model has been one of the most discussed models in the Indian market in recent times but the official Indian debut of the SUV is still unscheduled. The model has gone through crash test in China recently and it has scored five out of five there. As per the information, ix25 has succeeded in 100 % overlap front crash test, 40 percent overlap front crash, side impact and whiplash.

The side impact test was conducted with the help of a moving barrier which is steady at a speed of around 50 kmph. The compact SUV has scored 18 out of 18 points in the test even though it was not fitted with any air bags inside. The 100 % overlap front crash was carried out while the unit was moving at a speed of around 50 kmph and it has scored 15.89 points out of 18. 40 % overlap front crash test was carried out while the vehicle was moving at a speed of 64 kmph and it has successfully scored 14.11out of 18 points. The whiplash test was carried out at the end with a speed of around 15.65 kmph and it was meant to test the durability of the driver’s seat and restraint system basically.

The Chinese edition of the ix25 compact SUV comes powered with a 1.6 litre petrol engine that is capable of generating around 125 PS power at the peak whereas a higher end petrol variant is also on offer that comes powered with a 2.0 litre petrol engine producing around 160 PS power at the peak. Indian edition of the ix25 compact SUV would be offered both in petrol and diesel versions. We can expect petrol and diesel engines of displacement around 1.4 litre or 1.6 litre in the Indian edition. Hyundai may offer the ix25 SUV for a price of around Rs. 8 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs
