Affordable business tablets will sell even more easily in the wake of Microsoft’s decision to offer Windows with Bing (WWB) feature for free for screens measuring less than nine inches.

Washington: According to a leaked document, at least one company took advantage of this is HP that is already ready with a tablet that features WWB and is about to sell to business users. It is an affordable tablet though features and quality have not been comprised. In fact they have been prioritised.

The tablet, called HP Pro Tablet 408 G1, which is similar to Pipo W2, runs on a quad-core Intel Atom Z3736F Bay Trail processor. It sports an 8-inch screen with resolution of 1280×800 pixels. It has 2GB RAM with 32 GB onboard storage capacity. It also has a micro SD slot, WiFi, micro HDMI and micro USB slots and two cameras.

The document adds that the device as providing “affordable, reliable business mobility”. It has seemingly undergone a solid 115,000 hours of rigorous HP durability testing. It has two speakers, a whopping 4,800 mAh battery, TPM data encryption, management capabilities via HP Touchpoint manager, GPS/AGPS and optional 3G, Bluetooth keyboard case and Active pen.

HP Pro Tablet 408 G1 also comes with Windows 8.1 Pro but it does not include Office 365 Personal. Meanwhile, Pipo W2 is the baseline against which every other Windows 8.1 tablet will be evaluated. It is priceless for its build, price, relative performance, connectivity options and 5-megapixel rear camera. It comes with Windows 8.1 with Bing and a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal worth about Pounds 48. But that alone is 40 per cent of the tablet’s cost.

The Pro Tablet 408 was recently exhibited at the FCC recently. A recent FCC listing shows that the HP Pro Tablet 408 G1 will be made by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, Ltd., also known as Foxconn.The Windows 8.1 is a major improvement over the original which had several shortcomings. It is definitely an evolution and what it needs now are new PCs to project it.
