Karbonn Sparkle V Smart Phone Stands On Shaky Ground but Android One Can Push It Up

Karbonn Sparkle V smart phone that was launched on the Android One platform on September 15 in India has little to boast of except the price. Bogged down by poor performance and worse customer services, the phone’s manufacturers tried to grab the mushrooming, youthful smart phone market in the country with its Sparkle V. And Google gained entry through it, by improving the phone’s innards.

Ahmadabad: Even now Karbonn’s older versions are available on Amazon for throwaway prices. But user reviews on Karbonn reveal that price is not everything. Has Android One brought any special ‘Sparkle’ to Karbonn? That only Amazon or Snapdeal will be able to tell us.

Karbonn Sparkle V

Karbonn Sparkle V, the company’s first smart phone on the Google Android One platform was launched on Snapdeal, last month, for Rs 6,399. It sports a 4.5-inch display running on Android Kitkat 4.4 OS with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. Its 1.3 GHz quad core processor supports 32 GB external storage along with dual SIM facility.

Its 1700 mAh battery is a promising life, according to Google. It also sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera.

As one can see the specs are less to speak off for a smart phone. They are not anywhere near the Samsung or Apple brands, not even in perhaps in their mid-range. And the last two including Sony are Indian favorites, never mind the price.

However, Karbonn Sparkle V could still make it big with its pricing and the low needs of the Indian user. Its 3G connectivity might appeal to some tech conscious users. But consumers in general, who would like to upgrade to a smart phone, without having to make a hole in their pockets could be attracted to the simple design and choice of colors of the Sparkle V. It is available in four colors: Magnum Blue, Mild Grey, Wild Red and Pearl white.

The flashiest USP of the Sparkle V is however, the promise of immediate upgrades like all Android phones, ranking it next to Nexus phones. It will automatically be upgraded with Android L when it comes, along with all the applications and features.
