CHIRANJEEVI IN DIFFERENT ROLE

Rise And Fall Of Chiranjeevi

The once famous Tollywood mega star Chiranjeevi has seen full life cycle in his career.

Hyderabad: Chiranjeevi is a big name that needs no introduction. Originally named Konidala Shiva Shankar Vara Prasad ventured into movies in the year 1978 (at the age of 23 years). His introduction film was titled Punadirallu but his first release Pranam Khareedu.

After portraying several characters having different shades like side actor, negative role, villain, and character actor and ultimately with his prowess in dance he became hero with the film Khaidi. Most of his films became hit because of his dance, fights and music along with thin story line as well.

With increasing success in films, his fans started calling him Mega Star and to cash the popularity, Chiru ventured into direct politics. He started his own political party in the name of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP). His election campaign (on PRP ticket) during the elections of 2004 had huge masses but when it came to voting, PRP had to limit itself to just 18 MLA seats. Despite his being projected as CM of AP, Chiru could not get even his own election from his native place in Godavari dist. The only face saving for Chiru had been his win in Tirupati assembly seat.

Despite the huge fan following and limited success with PRP, Chiru decided to merge his party with congress party. All PRP MLA’s became congress MLA’s. Subsequently Chiru resigned his Tirupati MLA seat and went on to become Rajya Sabha member on congress ticket.

Before AP split, congress high command chose Chiru (along with other seniors in the region like JD Seelam, Kavuri etc) to become union minister. As per the reports in the press, his sole agenda was to pacify the Seemandhra people on the issue of AP Split.

With the introduction and clearance of T-bill, congress party closed its shop in the Seemandhra region with all of its top leaders moving to other regional parties like TDP, YSRCP etc. There being no other star campaigner for the congress party in the region, Chiru became the coordinator of congress campaign in the Seemandhra region.

His initial bus yatra and subsequent public meetings also failed to attract the required number of participants (audience). When the results came out, the position of congress as well as Chiru became clear. The party could not open account in assembly as well as Lok Sabha seats.

As there are no other elections for the next 5 years, Chiru is now without any real activity. Hence it is reported that he is actively considering pursuing movie career. Before re-entry into movies, Chiru is slated to appear in one of the reality shows on small screen.

With the past experience and also the political career of Chiru, his entry back into Tollywood and success on his re-entry is a big question mark as at present Chiru might not be having the same fan following that he enjoyed before venturing into politics.
