Mahindra ‘G101’ Scooter Spotted – Price to be kept low to beat Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Hero Maestro and Yamaha Ray

Mahindra has been in the commuter bike segment from the past one decade but the India based giant’s existence was felt only after launching the ‘Centuro’ commuter bike about a year ago. Centuro is the only model from Mahindra having considerable demand in the Indian market currently. The yet to be revealed Mojo which has been seen on Indian roads in the form of test mule from past few months is expected to give a breakthrough in the performance commuter segment. Mahindra is in much need of a prominent scooter model now…

A test mule of what is supposed to be the upcoming key player for Mahindra in Scooter segment has been spotted recently and it is reported to be codenamed as G101 currently. The upcoming scooter has been spotted while it was being driven on Indian roads and it is expected to be launched by the end of this year most probably. The respective test mule was wearing some heavy camouflage on its body and thus we are unable to judge what design features that the upcoming scooter is carrying. However, the base structure of the scooter seems to be similar to most of other traditional scooters that are available in the market currently.

The respective test mule has featured a wider foot board and the size of the scooter is going to be similar to that of Honda Activa. As Mahindra is likely to keep the price of the upcoming scooter model as low as possible as the price tag has played a significant role in making the ‘Centuro’ commuter bike a hot favorite. So it is clear that we cannot expect premium and exclusive features in the upcoming commuter from Mahindra but we could expect a good value for money scooter for sure.

As per the information, Mahindra is likely to use the same 110 CC engine which was used earlier in the current gen Centuro commuter bike. As the respective engine is going to be adopted from a bike and not from a scooter model, Mahindra is going to tune up the engine in order to make it compatible for the gearless and clutch less environment. Head light is expected to get mounted to the handle bar while the indicator lamps are expected to get mounted to the apron. The upcoming G101 scooter may not get disk brakes but we can expect electric start along with the kick start.

However, Mahindra should double ensure that the upcoming scooter is capable of tackling rival models such as Honda Activa, Hero Maestro, Pleasure, Yamaha Ray Z, Suzuki Lets and TVS Jupiter. But Mahindra may offer the upcoming 110 CC scooter for price less than most of these models mostly. Mahindra already have some successful scooters in the 125 CC segment such as Rodeo RZ, Flyte, Duro RZ and let us hope that G101 gives a success for Mahindra straight ahead this year.
