Ford revealed Light Weighted Fusion Sedan – 900 poundslighter relatively, 1.0L Eco boost engine to be used

Most of the leading automotive giants are concentrating on making their models more efficient in performance as well as in fuel efficiency. There are many ways of making a particular model quicker and efficient. Most of the people misunderstand that more power can be attained by adding a powerful engine only but this is absolutely wrong. The better way to increase power of a model is to reduce its weight.

Ford has revealed about the launch of a brand new sedan model that weighs considerably less than most of the other models in the world. Commenting about the model, Mr. Raj Nair who is working as the Vice President for Global Product Development at Ford Group has stated “Consumers today want better fuel efficiency, but they also want more technology and features in the car, which usually adds weight to the vehicle. A focus on light weighting will be fundamental to our industry for years to come, and we are investigating many advanced materials applications as possible solutions for weight reduction in our vehicles”.

The former edition of the Fusion sedan weighs around 3600 pounds and it comes with a wide number of exclusive features. The manufacturer has developed a light weighted version of the sedan and the first look of the respective test mule has been revealed over web. As per the information, Ford has developed the new Fusion by using high tensile steel materials along with aluminium and magnesium metals. Most importantly, The majority of the body parts of light weight Fusion have been made from carbon fibre material.

As per the information, Tyres and seats of the new Fusion were made of carbon fibres whereas the springs, stabilizer bars and other components inside were made of hollow steel which is also lighter material naturally. The model is going to get powered with a 1.0 litre Eco Boost engine that is capable of delivering around 20 kmpl mileage very comfortably. The respective engine has delivered around 19.13 kmpl when used in the former edition Fiesta. Ford has not revealed anything more about the model so far and thus we must wait for few months more to check the light weighted Fusion out.
