Why TRS Wanted Pre-Ponement Of Appointed Date?

The original appointed date of 2nd June is discussed once the polling is over in Telangana.

Hyderabad: The clearance of T-Bill in parliament paved the way for creation of telangana state. As part of the procedures, the government of India declared 2nd June 2014 as the appointed date.

The appointed date is the starting date of the new state coming into force. With the suspension of AP state assembly, the state is going to polls under president’s rule. The AP governor ESL Narasimhan is completing the division formalities with war-footing and there is no complaint on this issue.

The polls are over in Telangana on 30th April 2014. The major fighters in the poll fray are Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and congress. The wave predicted that TRS is most likely to come to power gaining marginally higher than required seats in the 119 MLA Telangana Assembly.

Here started the discussion on the appointed date. The polling schedule declared by the election commission indicated that the counting of votes is due on 16th May 2014 and the results are expected to be declared on the same day.

The numerous reports are indicating contradicting reports about the political scenario in the state. The congress leaders are mentioning that the TRS is afraid that its MLA’s are likely to change their loyalty and with this fear in mind, the party is demanding preponement of the appointed date.

The TRS, on the other hand, is stating that once the results are declared on 16th May and the elected government is place on the same day, there is no need for continuance of president rule till 2nd June. The president’s rule would deprive the people of the services of elected representatives for the 17 days between 16th May and 2nd June.

As a matter of fact, the appointed date has been announced by the central government in connection with the T-bill formalities.

The election commission, on the other hand, declared its voting schedule in its normal coursewithout any special stress on the appointed date. The election process takes its own time to complete the election formalities and the time between 16th May to 2nd June is required for this purpose.

Incidentally, there is no mention or discussion about the appointed day in Seemandhra Region. The demand by TRS to pre-pone the appointed date has been gaining momentum in political circles.
