Seemandhra Local Poll Results: Rural Voters On Similar Lines Of Urban Voters

The counting is in progress for the rural votes in Seemandhra. The trends indicate repeat of urban poll results.

Vijayawada: Counting of votes polled in the recent elections for rural elections in Seemandhra is in full swing. As per the latest information received (after 60% of the winners are declared), the position is very clear that like the urban voters, also the rural voters in this region are supporting Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP.

The various populous measures announced by YSRCP could not attract the rural areas in the state. Whole of the seemandhra region comprising of 13 districts has extended all out support to TDP. The main opposition for TDP in the region YSRCP could prove its superiority over TDP in select districts like Kadapa (YS Jagan’s home district) and adjoining Prakasam & Kurnool districts.

An analysis of the results declared till now show that TDP gained 61% & 51% in ZPTC & MPTC seats respectively. YSRCP could gain 37% & 42% in ZPTC & MPTC seats respectively.

Congress (perceived as villain by the people in Seemandhra in view of AP split) has been reduced to less than 1% of seats and at par with the communists. ‘Others’ have been able to show their presence in MPTC where they could get almost 5% of MPTC seats.

The TDP performance is a clear indication that the party could convey its message to the rural voters as well. The earlier regime by TDP’s Chandrababu Naidu could not satisfy the rural areas (farmers mainly) due to the conditions prevailing at that time. This time, however, the ground work done by the TDP chief Naidu by way of his Pada Yatra throughout the state convinced the rural voters as well, that the TDP is the only solution for their problems.

The various poll promises by YSRCP and its leaders could not convince the rural voters in Seemandhra. The party has been left with performance far below its competitor TDP. The difference in seats won by these two contenders is very large where TDP proved its superiority.

The position is reverse in areas where YSRCP proved its superiority over TDP. Here the difference is very less (with exception of Kadapa the home district of YSRCP).

These results are for polls conducted before finalization of the alliance of TDP with BJP and hence TDP only needs to be given the credit for the results.
