Telangana Local Poll Results: Lesser Impact Of T-Sentiment?

The counting is in progress for the rural votes in Telangana. The trends indicate repeat of urban poll results.

Hyderabad: Counting of votes polled in the recent elections for rural elections in Telangana is in full swing. As per the latest information received (after 50% of the winners are declared), the position is very clear that like the urban voters, also the rural voters in this region supported Congress.

The various statements by TRS chief and other leaders proved to be without base. TRS performed extraordinarily well in the districts of Adilabad & Karimangar. TDP (though considered as minimal player in this region) proved its ability in Khammam district. Congress showed its powerful performance in rest of the districts.

Congress proved its power with 36% of MPTC seats compared to 30% MPTS seats won by TRS. However, the TRS’ performance in ZPTC seats is better with 58% compared to 32% of congress.

TDP proved its might with win in 16% of MPTC seats however its performance in ZPTC seats is negligible. The left showed its existence only in Khammam & Nalgonda MPTC seats.

The results in Telangana region are clear indication that the traditional vote bank of congress has remained intact. The various efforts of TRS to get more votes and seats could not yield the success as expected by TRS.

A quick look at the partial results available till now gives a varied picture regarding the voting pattern. Medak (where TRS chief KCR contested as MLA & MP) gave equal success to congress & TRS. Nizamabad with presence of strong congress leaders like DS, Madhu Yashki supported congress in MPTC seats whereas TRS got more support in ZPTC seats.

Border district of Khammam is a clean sweep for TDP. Here TDP won 5 ZPTC & 193 MPTC seats against congress (4 &73). Here TRS has not been able to taste success in both MPTC & ZPTC seats. Rangareddy district (which is majorly considered as ‘area of settlers’) supported more to congress with 202 MPTC seats followed by TRS with 130 seats. Here TDP has been pushed to the third position with just 113 MPTC seats.

The stiff competition between congress & TRS could not decide who is favored by Telangana rural voter. The success played hide and seek with both the parties in this region. The overall outcome of the present elections result is that the T-sentiment is not prevalent as strong as it is projected in various corners of the media.
