CSK made thumping victory against Mumbai : Mumbai dropped to bottom again
With 6 victories out of 8 matches, CSK is closer to playoff. Nothing would have happened to it much, even if it loses a match now. On the other side, MI is far behind the playoff with 5 defeats out of 7 matches. Position becomes irreparable if it loses even a single match from now. But in this situation too, CSK did not let even a stone to take its glory. CSK has shown its responsibility in winning the match. For MI, it is first defeat after ten matches in home ground.
Mumbai: In IPL-7, CSK went closer to playoff with 7th victory while MI dropped to bottom with sixth defeat. After facing defeat from Punjab, CSK has shown good spirit and played responsible innings. MI could not continue the winning spirit of last 2 matches. On Saturday, CSK won against MI by 4 wickets. Man of the Match Dwen Smith with 57 runs in 51 balls ( 5 fours & 3 sixes) and Du Plesis with 31 runs in 24 balls helped CSK in chasing victory easily. Dhoni at the end, finished the target with awesome shots. CSK is able to chase the target of 158 runs for 6 wickets with 3 balls remaining.
Dhoni has once again proved to be the best finisher in the cricket. In the first innings, Rayudu shined with bat by scoring 59 runs in 43 balls. MI made 157 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Aswin of CSK bowled well taking 3/30. While chasing, Smith and Du plesis layed good foundation maintaining the run rate. For 15.2 overs, score was 119 runs for 2 wickets. CSK could easily chase the target. But then Praveen has bowled Smith. Then CSK hopes came down.
In the next year Malinga gave only 6 runs. Then the required run rate has been raised high. In the 19th over, Malinga again gave only 6 runs taking Jadeja’s wicket as well. In the last over, CSK has to hit 11 runs. In the first ball, Dhoni hit 2 runs. Excitement and anxiety continues in the players and audience. Game can be the any of the two. But Dhoni hit a six and a four in the next two balls and ended the excitement in short time. In this match, 3 boundary catches became 3 sixes by crossing the boundary.
