The mention of Lord Rama’s incarnation is there in Ramayana, written by Valmiki. According to Ramayana as Rama, the lord showed to the world how a man should be, what principles he should follow and so on.

According to mythology, there used to be a demon called Ravanasura who was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. He did penance for Shiva and Brahma and was given boons. He used to torture the gods, devotees of Vishnu and also sages. All these prayed for Lord Vishnu and he assured them that he will be born as Rama on earth and solve all their problems.

Rama was born as the first child of Dasaratha and Kousalya. He was born on Navami in the month of Chaitra which is celebrated as Sri Rama Navami even today. It is believed that he also got married to Seeta on this day.

Hindus all over the country get up early in the morning and wear new clothes. They worship Seeta and Rama and take the prasadam. There is no village in India without the temple of Sri Rama. Devotees celebrate the festival grandly.
