Mahindra to launch RX6 variant of the Ssangyong Rexton

Mahindra’s Ssangyong Rexton has been quite a popular car since its launch and it comes in 2 variants only. But Mahindra is all set to launch the car in a new variant that is expected to bridge the gap between the two variants on sale and bring in new customers.

New Delhi:Mahindra is preparing another variant of the Ssangyong Rexton called the RX6. The Rexton is presently accessible in two variants, Rx5 and Rx7. While the Rx5 gets a manual transmission, the Rx7 characteristics an automatics gearbox and a few extra creature comforts.

The RX6 as per the latest word on the street will come shod with the 5 speed gearbox and lower state of tune engine of the RX5 variant but will get all the creature comforts of the RX7 which include a slew of features such as electrically-adjustable seats with memory function, electric sunroof, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, leather upholstery, LED daytime running lights and all-wheel drive.

RX5 and RX7 are fueled by the same 2.7-liter five-barrel diesel motor but come in different states of tune. The Rx5 creates 162 bhp and 340 Nm of torque, while the Rx7 makes 184 bhp and 402 Nm of torque. The Rx6 will brandish indistinguishable determinations as the Rx5.

The RX5 is is on sale for INR 18.87 lakhs while the RX7 costs INR 21.1 lakhs. Evidently, the Rx6 will be estimated in the middle of the both of these. It will bridge the gap and bring the best of both worls together. Expect it to be priced around the Rs 20 lakhs mark. All the prices are ex-showroom Delhi figures.

Mahindra had showcased a 2.0-liter diesel variant of the Rexton at the Auto Expo which is expected to join the ranks at a later stage.The Rexton 2.0l is fueled by a 1,998 cc four-chamber motor handling 153 PS and 360 Nm of torque combined to a 5-velocity E-Tronic automatic transmission and will take the fight to the top end variants of the XUV500.

The Rexton has sold about 3,600 units since its launch in the country and is living up to Mahindra’s expectations and scores high on customer satisfaction as well. Let us see which way things turn out in future.
