Bollywood In The 2014 Elections

With the elections approaching soon, Bollywood has also plunged into the mood. While some of the Bollywood stars are preparing to contest for elections others are promoting the importance of voting.

New Delhi: Let us take a look at the election contestants from tinsel town this year. Veteran actors like Raj Babbar, Shatrughan Sinha, Kiron Kher and Hema Malini have filed their nominations from different constituencies under various parties for this year’s polls. There are also some young actors like Pawan Kalyan , Gul Panag and Moon Moon Sen who are contesting this year.

The attempt to gain power through glamour is not always an easy one. This tactic has not worked well in the north as compared to the southern states of the country. In the south the people have a lot of admiration for their stars and they look up to them to such an extent that they are even worshipped in temples. In such a scenario winning an election is quite simple for them down south. But in the north even well established actors with a huge fan following like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Govinda and Rajesh Khanna have failed in the elections .They tried to get into power but could not win the race against politicians and hence left the political field and went back to where they came from, which we think has definitely benefited the movie buffs of the country.

One interesting piece of news is that both Kiron Kher and Gul Panag will be contesting from Chandigarh but for different political parties. Kiron will be contesting as a member of the Bharatiya Janatha Party whereas Gul will represent the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP would have thought that Gul would attract a lot of youngsters to her side but BJP outwitted them by putting up Kiron, who has a stronger career history against Gul.
