Apple Iwatch Rumored to be out this Quarter

Apple will unveil its iWatch in the third quarter of 2014, if the news report of Taiwan’s Economic daily news is anything to go by. Supply chain sources told the news site that Apple would be producing 65 million iWatches by this year end.

Washington: The sources revealed that Quanta Computer will manufacture the watches. While Richtek Technology will make the chips, TPK will make the sapphire touch panels.

Another interesting fact is that while Apple will be making the processor for the iWatch Samsung will take care of the chips, according to the sources. Apple’s iWatch is expected to outshine the smart watches of rival companies. It will align with your iPhone for sure. Also it will serve as a health and fitness tracker with support from iOS 8 app called Healthbook.

While talk of Apple’s iWatch has been going on since long, recent reports have mentioned a late 2014 launch. The concept of the iWatch takes inspiration from the fuel band, giving up the traditional watch look. San Francisco-based Todd Hamilton designed the mock-up iWatch that uses iOS 7 user interface components. It includes swiping gestures, tap to use Siri, swipe up to unlock and pull down to view notifications.

The iWatch connects with the iPhone via Bluetooth and the ability to call and manage data is included. Earlier there were reports saying that the Cupertino Company was trying different sizes of OLED displays as prototypes. But later reports said that the two sizes, a 1.3 inch display and another 1.7 inch OLED display was being considered to give customers a choice.

As early as February this year, it was rumored that Apple is trying out super strong sapphire screens for its iPhone 6 and iWatch. Sapphire is the second strongest material on earth after diamonds and it is not news that Apple has been collecting sapphire screens sufficient for three years. In November last Quanta Computer seemed to have landed a contract to mass produce iWatches for a Q2 release in 2014. This February reports were out that Apple had chosen TPK for supplying flexible AMOLED panels for iWatch.
