Report Says Samsung Will Debut Nexus 10 Successor At CES

Whether or not the Nexus 10 2 is real is very much up for debate at the moment. Nothing official has been said by Google about the rumoured slate, and while there are plenty of murmurings out there concerning release dates – the latest suggested it would launch on Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday –most of us are still very much in the dark about the updated Nexus 10.

Taipei: To date we’ve seen leaked pictures, which turned out to be fakes, tons of speculation about the Nexus 10 2’s potential specs and hardware, and discussion over which manufacturer –Samsung, LG or Motorola –undertook OEM duties this time around. And we still know nothing concrete about the device, its specs or when it will be arriving.

Still, if a Nexus 10 reboot is happening, it’s likely to feature a few obvious things:Android4.4, a Snapdragon 800 CPU, either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and a full HD 1080p display. Aside from these factors, which are pretty much mainstays on all new higher-end hardware at the moment, what the Nexus 10 2 will be like is anyone’s guess.

Take this one with a pinch of salt. According to Digitimes, the second generation Nexus 10 tablet is expected to be launched at CES 2014.

The site which is known for hit and miss conjecture said: “Google is expected to launch the new Nexus 10 tablet at the show [CES 2014] with Samsung remaining the manufacturer of the device. Many market watchers expect the device to adopt an AMOLEDpanel.”

Google also confirmed it would not be restocking the original Nexus 10 once it sold out of current inventory.

Google has said it has no plans to restock the Nexus 10 when it sells out on the Google Play store. The 16GB version is now sold out on the store but there is still stock left for the 32GB version.

It was Samsung which built the original Nexus 10 tablet with a high-res display, Exynos 5 dual processor, WiFi and 16GB /32 of internal storage. The display was highly applauded but the original Nexus 10 was found to be slightly underpowered which to everybody’s hope will be rectified in the next improved version.
