Malware Intrusion In Yahoo Webpages.

Yahoo website has been infected with malware for the last few days. Visitors who clicked on suspicious ads have been directed to the websites that contain malicious code that installs a number of malwares onto the visitor’s computer.

New Delhi: The issue was discovered on Saturday by a security company based in Netherlands. To react to the news of malware attach, Yahoo came up with statement saying that they’ve identified the ad that’s designed to spread the malware and had it removed off the website.

However, Yahoo added more details about this issue in the statement that it issued on Sunday saying that the malware has affected mainly the European users since the malicious advertisements were not in the countries of Asia Pacific, Latin America and North America. The statement also said that the Mac users and mobile users were not affected by these ads.

But still there are no details on how the advertisements got onto the Yahoo’s webpages, the number of users affected and the measures to be taken by the users who are affected by the malware.

Surfright, a security company from Netherlands has predicted that the advertisement’s malware attack has affected nearly 2 million users. It also says that there are reports of the malware getting spread through Yahoo Messenger as well and recommended a scan for malware to the users who used Yahoo products in the last 6 days.

The company also explained that the malware could effect in remote controlling of computer, may get the antivirus softwares to be disabled and loss of passwords or usernames. The statement of Yahoo regarding the malware attach is said to be not giving enough reason or explanation on the attack since it talks about only the violation of company’s guidelines by the advertisement.
