Google To Bring Android Experience In Cars

Google has collaborated with car companies like Audi, General Motors, Hyundai and Honda. It also has partnered with Nvidia the chipmaker. The reason behind these partnerships is to design and integrate the Android System with the vehicles of these companies.

New Delhi: The Open Auto Alliance group is planning this integration of the Android System with customization and openness. The group announced the initiative on Monday, the first day of CES 2014.

The group also said that it’s designing a platform to make the technology with the car to be safer and intuitive for all. It added that this initiative will create new development avenues to bring in great experiences for the passengers and drivers.

The association is considered significant since the Google’s participation will make the car companies to find a secure and safer software environment for the cars. More than computing, the cars can start forming links of network with other cars and the roads using the navigation services. The group said that the Android System will be enhanced with features of cars as well.

Audi’s partnership with Google is a speculated one since it already has partnered with Google for Street View. It’s the association with GM came in as a surprise. GM is expected to connect their On Star communication with the mobile operating system.

This partnership could lead the way to the much awaited self-driving technology of Google. Though this self-driving technology might not need the Android System, the OAA technology partnership can pave the needed path to make the self-driving car technology a reality.

It’s not just the Google that is planning for setting up software environment in cars. It should be mentioned that the Microsoft is having partnership for a long time with Ford Company for the Sync technology. Apple is also laying out plans for integrating IOS in the car electronics without building actual devices into the vehicles.
