HP Chromebook 11 back on sale: Ready to ship from Amazon US

With the charger issue being taken care of, it seems that HP Chromebook 11 is returning to an available status. Things are not at a point where the Chromebook can be considered widely available.

Washington: However, Amazon does have an active product listing. The retailer has the Chromebook 11 available in white and blue trim and perhaps key here, shown as a Prime eligible item and being in-stock and ready to ship. The HP Chromebook 11 launched in early October was pulled from shelves in November following numerous reports of the stock charger overheating in use. A formal produce recall followed and Google began offering those who bought the device a free replacement charger.

Now, after more than a month and a half off shelves the device is back in stock. It is priced at $279, giving a saving of $0.99 off the recommended retail price. But for now, Amazon is alone. Neither Google Play, Best Buy nor any international stores have restocked, while the product page on the US and UK versions of Google’s Chromebook mini site continue to read ‘coming soon’.

The HP Chromebook 11 still sports the same specs when it was originally announced with. But given the notebook has been unavailable for some time now, a refresh seems in order. Things begin with an 11.6 inch (1366X768) display and then go on to include a dual-core Samsung Exynos 5250 ARM Cortex-A15 processor with 2GB of RAM.

Rounding out the hardware there is 16GB of SSD storage, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and a VGA quality webcam. The Chromebook 11 has a magnesium chassis, fanless design, and sports no visible screws, vents or speakers. But just to clarify, the notebook does have speakers, they are just hidden. Otherwise, this one weighs 2.3 pounds and offers a battery life of up to six hours.

The HP Chromebook 11 is shipping with a (refreshed) microUSB charger and also has the perks that often come with Chromebooks. In this case, those goodies include 100 GB of Google Drive storage (free for two years), a dozen free GoGo Inflight internet sessions and a 60-day free trial of Google Play Music All Access. While the Amazon listing is for the white with blue trim model, the HP Chromebook 11 is also available with a variety of other trim colours.
