Choose the best value for money hatchback – Hyundai Eon VS Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors are the two leading automotive giants in the Indian market and both have achieved success in India this year with their fresh models and upgrades. Maruti Suzuki has updated the Alto K10 which increased the sale volume again considerably whereas Hyundai has succeeded in having a break though in the hatch back segment with Eon. It would be very difficult to decide the best one among them and let us have a detailed look at both the models

Design and Features:

Both the models have distinct styling and appealing looks but as per user reviews and opinions of experts, Hyundai Eon has much trendy design when compared with Alto K10. Alto K10 has been one of the most sold hatch back in the Indian automotive history and this year too, Maruti Suzuki has managed to have a breakthrough. But Hyundai Eon has given a tough fight for the Alto since it has been launched in the Indian market.

Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon are feature rich models and both are very comfortable with sufficient boo space. Eon is having around 20mm longer wheel base comparatively and it is slightly bigger in size too. As Alto has been introduced in 2000 and the design has not changed much so far, Hyundai Eon steals the show when looks matters.

Engine and Performance:

Under the hood the Hyundai Eon gets a 0.8 litre SOHC petrol engine that is capable of generating around 55.2 bhp at the peak along with 74.5 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki has powered the new Alto K10 with a 1.0 litre K series petrol engine that is capable of generating around 67.1 bhp at the peak along with 90 Nm of torque. Thus Alto K10 beats down Hyundai Eon when power is concerned, due to the larger engine displacement. Both come accompanied with a 5 speed manual transmission gear box.

Fuel Efficiency and Price:

Alto is one of the most fuel efficient cars in India and the new K10 too assures mileage of around 20.2 kmpl on highways and around 15 kmpl in cities. Hyundai Eon overtakes Alto by delivering 17.0 kmpl mileage in cities and 21.1 kmpl on highways. Maruti Suzuki is offering the Alto K10 with a price tag of Rs. 3.43 lakhs only whereas Hyundai is selling the Eon hatchback for Rs. 3.95 lakhs only.
