Delhi Politics Offering Interesting Twists

Immediately on declaration of schedule for Delhi state elections by Election Commission of India, there are large scale defections also taking place.

New Delhi: Already the schedule for the Delhi state elections is in place and the state is facing elections on 7th February and the results are scheduled to come open on 10th February 2015.

DELHI STATE POLITICS BECOMING INTERESTING

The ruling party at centre BJP is trying its best to woo the voters of Delhi state. The party already ensured many poll promises including regularisation of unauthorised residential colonies. This decision is going to benefit almost 8 lakh voters.

The previous government in Delhi was headed by Arvind Kezriwal belonging to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). AAP fought the previous elections (in December 2013) and the main issue was the corruption of the congress government at Delhi.

The Delhi voters trusted the AAP and the party’s chief mentor Arvind Kezjiral became the CM of Delhi. But within 49 days he submitted his resignation from the position of Delhi CM and suggested dissolution of the assembly. The assembly has a total strength of 70 MLA’s.

Subsequently, many AAP meetings received lesser response from the voters in state of Delhi and adjoining states as well.

With the recently concluded results in UP (the BJP received the severest jolt since general elections in May 2014), the BJP is in dilemma on strategy to counter other political parties like AAP & Congress.

The congress is now finding a chance to bounce from its successive failures. The party is projecting senor congress leader (with highest degree of clean image) as its chief campaigner in the Delhi state elections.

The BJP, on the other hand, is trying to involve cine glamour (read Shatrughan Sinha/Smriti Irani/Hema Malini) to lead the campaign in the state of Delhi. Already the party is also trying to organize as many as 7-8 public meetings wherein the PM Narendra Modi will address the gatherings. The party is trying its best to bring Delhi state under its control and for achieving this objective, the party is also offering ‘full state hood’ to Delhi.

AAP is also facing many problems. The Delhi voters are now not in a position to believe the party and Arvind Kezriwal as well. Many senior leaders including Shazia Ilmi are leaving the party and their natural goal will be BJP.

Before 7th February (the date of polling) many twists are expected in Delhi state politics.
