01.10.2013: Security Exchange Board of India approved Jet and Etihad deal. Deal is selling of 24 % stake of Jet Airways to Etihad which is Abu Dhabi based company. After this deal Jet Airlines will have 51% stake in the company and Etihad will have 24 % stake in the company and remaining 25 % will left with the public.

01.10.2013: Scheme which is relating to Talent Search and Training in the sports is renamed as Scheme of Human Resources Development. This was revised by Government of India and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year award Received by Saina
01.10.2013: Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the year Award received by Saina Nehwal. She won bronze medal in Olympics. Coach of the year Award achieved by Pullela Gopi Chand. He received this award for developing and preparing new talented young persons. Sports magazine organised this event. These awards are given for the good performance of the year 2012.

Mythily Sivaraman Book Released in International Centre
01.10.2013: Mythily Sivaraman, an author and Women Rights Activist, wrote a book in the name Haunted by Fire: Essays on Caste, Class, Exploitation and Emancipation was released in New Delhi at International Centre. This book was mainly focused on issues of impunity, the coercive apparatus of the state, the radical Course of left struggles, early promises of change on land, Labour and wages and how the emergency worked out on the grounds.
National Blood Donation Day Observed
01.10.2013: Every year National Blood Donation Day celebrates on 1st October. This tradition was started from 1975 onwards. Aim of celebrating this day to increase the awareness about the importance of Voluntary blood donation among the people. At the same time, with the intension to maintain enough blood stock in the blood banks camps are conducting regularly. This day was organised by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Government of India, National AIDS Control Organisation, National Blood Transfusion Council.
Policy for Senior Citizens approved by Maharashtra Cabinet
01.10.2013: Policy for Senior Citizens approved by Maharashtra Cabinet. Main aim of the policy is to make the senior citizens to lead a dignified life. Apart from providing dignity life it also aims to give financial security, housing and healthcare. As per the rules of the policies of the senior citizens, people who have attained 65 years are considered as senior citizens. One of the main features of this policy is every year on 1st October state government will release a report on the status of senior citizens to provide the senior citizen benefits. On State Transport tickets 50% concession will be given to senior citizens.
International Day of Older Persons Celebrated
01.10.2013: Every year International Day of Older Persons celebrates on 1st October. This was started from 1991 onwards. Aim of this day is to examine the issues or problems that are affecting the older people lives and number of older persons in the society will be observed. The Theme of 2013 is The Future we want: what older persons are saying.
