Tal Chapper Sanctuary is located in Churu district of Northern Rajasthan in India. Major attraction of this place is black bucks and different variety of birds. Area covered by this sanctuary is 719 hectares. Earlier this place was used as hunting place of Royal family of Bikaner. This sanctuary is named after the village Chapper which is located very near to this sanctuary.

 

What to see in Tal Chapper Sanctuary: Tal Means plane land in Rajasthan. Visitors can see flat tract of Land. This land can be broken by only Prosopis and Acasia Trees. Major attraction of this sanctuary is Black Bucks. Highest number of blackbucks can be seen here. Nearly 500 to 700 blackbucks form as single herd. Along with Blackbucks visitors can also see Chinkara, Jackal, Neelgai, black naped hare, jungle cat, desert fox etc.

 

This sanctuary is not only famous for animals but also home town to several migratory birds. Nearly 122 species of birds can be seen in this sanctuary. Few are sparrows, short toed eagle, tawny eagle, eastern imperial eagles, Harriers.

 

Along with flora and fauna, visitors of this sanctuary can see a special type of grass which is known as Mothiya. Mothiya is the Rajasthani word which means pearl. Seed of this grass looks like pearl. So it was named as Mothiya. Taste of this seeds is so sweet. Every one enjoy in eating this seed including birds and blackbucks.

 

Several adventurous sports conduct here such as water sports, camping, Trekking, Bicycling, Kite Flying, Golf, Polo and Para sailing. For the shopping lovers also this is the best place. Several handicrafts or wonders of gems and stones and colourful textiles with gold and silver thread settings can be purchased from here.

 

What to see around Tal Chapper Sanctuary:

Sthanan Temple: It is located just 3kms away from the sanctuary. Major attraction of this place is temple of Sthanan.

Ratangarh fort: It is located 44kms away from the sanctuary. This is situated on Agra Bikaner highway. It was built in 1820 by Bikaner Ratan Singh. Currently this fort is using for government offices.

Salasar Balaji Temple: It is located 37kms away from the sanctuary. This temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is believed that Lord Hanuman pleased here with the devotion of Mohan Das Maharaja. Every year two fairs conduct here. One in the month of April and other one in the month of October. These fairs conduct on full moon day of Ashwin poornima and Chaitra Poornima.

Getting to Tal Chapper Sanctuary: Sanctuary is well connected through road. Private vehicles and taxis are available to visit this sanctuary from Jaipur, Mandawa, Bikaner, and Churu. Nearest railway head is located at Jaipur. From Ahmedabad, Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai etc trains come to Jaipur. Taxis are available to reach sanctuary. Nearest airport is also located at Jaipur. Form places such as Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and etc flights come to this place on regular basis. Sanctuary is located 3 hours away from this airport.
