Lt Gen Hanut Singh, 1971 Indo-Pak War Hero is No More

12.04.2015: Retired Lieutenant General Hanut Singh passed away in Dehradun at the age of 82. He was one of most able officers in India Army and is also a hero of 1971 Indo-Pak war. He earned the named Hero of Battle of Basantnagar. He retired in the year 1991 and is now staying in Dehradun. He founded Shivbala Yoga Ashram Parisar there. He also received Maha Vir Chakra.

Jammat-e-Islami Leader Hanged in Bangladesh

12.04.2015: Muhammad Qamaruzzaman, Jamaat-e-Islami leader is executed in Bangladesh. He was charged with mass killings and war crimes during Bangladesh’s independence war against Pakistan in the year 1971.

Jitu Rai Won Bronze Media at International Shooting Sport Federation world Cup

12.04.2015: Indian shooter Jitu Rai won bronze media at International Shooting Sports Federation world cup which is going on in South Korea. Jongoh of South Korea won the gold media and the silver medal is won the Naung Ye Tun of Myanmar.

New Zealand Won Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament 2015

12.04.2015: New Zealand won the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament 2015. This is the second Azlan Shah title for New Zealand. New Zealand defeated Australia by 3-1 goals in the final. New Zealand won the title earlier in 2012. Australia reached the final of Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament three times in 1999, 2006 and 2015. Meanwhile India finished three at the tournament and won the bronze medal. It defeated South Korea. The tournament is held in Malaysia.

Sania Mirza Ranked World No.1 in Women’s Doubles

12.04.2015: Sania Mirza, the tennis sensation of India created another history by becoming the first Indian woman to be ranked world number in double category. She achieved this after winning WTA Family Circle Cup by defeating Cassey dellacqua and Darjia Jurak. Her doubles partner is Martina Hingis. Sania is also the first Indian female player to win grand slam tournaments.

12.04.2015: Air Pegasus became the newest air service operator in India. Its first flight took off from Bangalore to Hubli. The flight was inaugurated by Union Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju. The air service was given flying permit in 2014.
