Modi Is The Trump Card For BJP In Delhi Elections

The ruling party in the centre and many states BJP is once again looking to Modi for the coming Delhi state elections.

New Delhi: With the Election Commission of India declaring the schedule for Delhi state elections, the political activity in the capital state took sharp turn increasing the heat.

For beginners, December 2013 elections gave Arvind Kezriwal an opportunity to implement his ideologies in the capital state of Delhi. The state is having 70 MLA seats (covering in all 7 MP seats). The Kezriwal government on ticket of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could sustain only 49 days and after that he resigned from the CM post of the Delhi state and advised for dissolution of the assembly.

The Delhi LG accepted resignation of Kezriwal but instead of dissolving the Delhi assembly, he kept the assembly in suspended animation status. With no logical conclusion to form a elected government, the Delhi state had gone under President’s Rule.

With the tenure of President’s Rule coming to an end, the state is going to elections. The Election Commission of India declared schedule for the state elections. The state is going to voting on 7th February this year and the results are expected on 10th February itself.

The political parties in the Delhi state election fray are BJP, AAP & congress. While BJP is having the highest stakes, AAP is trying to re-gain its confidence from the Delhi voters. Congress is having the lowest stakes in the state elections and even then it has already declared its first list of candidates fighting the Delhi elections.

Modi kickstarted the BJP campaign for Delhi state elections with massive rally. Before the elecitons, there are as many as 7 more rallies by Modi for theelections. The party is also contemplating to project cine glamour as the party’s CM candidate before the elections itself. The names doing rounds in this regad include Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini, Smriti Irani etc. The party is also strongly believing that a strong candidate (with mass following) is required to face the competition from Arvind Kezriwal. The strong leader of BJP in Delhi state Harshavardhan went to centre as MP and subsequently became union minister as well. Under these circumstacnes, the BJP has many strong leaders to campaign for the party in the elections but the party is in search of the CM candidate which the party wants to declare much in advance.
