Apple Watch Lacks Five Features which would have made it a Super ‘iWatch’

Techradar earlier pointed to five reasons as to why the much-awaited Apple Watch would be a great success. But days after that the same site is telling us why it would not be unique for an equal number of reasons.

Washington: First there is no single feature in the Apple Watch that can distinguish it from others as outstanding or unique. This is unlike the Apple tradition wherein the iPod, iPad and even the iPhone brought in transformative changes to the way we use gadgets. Except for a slight advantage over others in its fitness and health app, there is nothing in Apple Watch which other smart watches cannot do.

Second, Apple Watch is of no use to customers who don’t own one of the latest iPhones, as it only works with an iPhone. Truth is that majority of the smart phone market is ruled by non-iOS devices. Still, PC owners can buy an iPad Air or a Samsung tablet owner can still buy a MacBook. But Apple Watch is limited to iPhone users only.

The declining demand for wrist watches itself is discouraging for the sale of smart watches, leave alone Apple Watch. People have got in to the habit of looking at their mobile phones for checking time and don’t really need a wrist watch. So Apple Watch has to have that special something to make them revert to old habits.

Apple watch is a wearable that is noticeably heavy on the wrist. People now-a-days carry a lot of devices, including smart phones (iPhone must if using Apple Watch), tablets, gaming devices and health trackers to name a few in their pockets and purses. A product needs to have some definite purpose to carry it along. And Apple Watch that way is quite dispensable.
