Mahindra Quanto AMT Spotted – Competes with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Fortuner and Honda Mobilio

Mahindra has already revealed about the launch of a new edition Quanto with Automated Manual Transmission gear box earlier and the same has been show cased in concept form at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo which was held in the month of February at Greater Noida. Few test mules of the model were spotted in the past and another enthusiast has spotted one more test mule recently.

Mahindra is hoping for a boost in sales of the model with the addition of Automated Manual Transmission gear box which is not yet seen in any other diesel powered MPV in the Indian market so far. It is also informed that Mahindra is developing a Facelift edition of the Quanto MPV and it has been codenamed as U215 currently. The Facelift Edition is likely to get launched by the end of this financial year most probably. A set of spy images of the respective test mule spotted were revealed over web and snaps of interiors of the MPV were revealed for the first time ever. The exterior and interior of the model have been changed remarkably.

AMT Version of the Quanto MPV is going to be powered with a 1.5 litre three cylinder diesel engine that is capable of generating around 98.6 bhp power at the peak along with 240 Nm of torque. Engine comes with a five speed auto shift gear box which is the first ever in its segment. The AMT Quanto is going to be almost same as that of the current gen version except the transmission mechanism. The current gen Quanto MPV delivers around 17.21 kmpl mileage on an average and the upcoming AMT edition of the same is expected to deliver more mileage. Mahindra Quanto is going to tackle with rival models such as Honda Mobilio, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Fortuner etc. We can expect the price of the AMT edition MPV to be around Rs. 10 – 12 lakhs mostly.
