Motorola Mobility announced a new android based smart watch known as Moto 360. Announced on March 18 2014, it was released on September 5, 2014 in the United States. Similar to the circular watch design, the Moto 360 uses a capacitive touch display, a steel casing and a removable wrist band. The watch is also water resistant has wireless Qi charging along with a light sensor and a heart rate sensor. It has a single physical button, vibration motor and heart rate monitor.

Washington: Motorola Moto 360 has 1.6 inches LCD screen with RGB matrix. It has a resolution of 320×290 pixels. It also has a corning gorilla glass to protect it from scratches and minor knocks. It comes in black and a natural stainless steel color. It has a 4 GB on board storage with 512 MB of RAM. It also comes with a microphone for voice commands. It has a TI OMAP 3 processor for everyday general usage.

Moto 360 is currently running on a basic version of 1.0 Android wear. The entire concept is based on the fact that browsing can be done by swiping left to right or scrolling up and down. Browsing or going through an app and its notifications depends on the app developer. But the user doesn’t have to download the apps separately because if android wear apps are available on the paired android phones, then the apps automatically appear on the Moto 360.

Moto 360 also responds to the user’s voice. The user can send texts, set a reminder, check the weather and even ask for directions with the help of voice control. The watch also has 2.5 times the battery backup when compared to other android based watches in the market. It comes with a charging dock on which the watch can be charged all night. It has a blue tooth 4.0 connectivity with smart phones having android 4.3 or higher. The price of Moto 360 has been set to $249 in the US. It released in India and Canada too. The users can also buy leather bands separately from the market.
