Volkswagen Polo GT TDI production stopped – 2014 Polo to reach India by this Festive Season?

Volkswagen is well known for its premium making and exclusive features all over the world. Most of the models launched by Volkswagen in India went successful so far and Polo GT is the only hatch back series which comes under Rs. 10 lakh price range. But Indian buyers are fond of budget cars and thus the sale volume of the premium hatch back models such as Polo GT is very poor when compared with the budget hatchbacks. Though Polo GT is doing well in India. Volkswagen has stopped the production of GT TDI and GT TSI surprisingly.

Polo is being offered in the Indian market in base hatch back version along with GT series performance hatch back version. The current gen Polo GT TSI petrol hatch back comes powered with a turbo charged 1.2 litre petrol engine that is capable of delivering 105 PS power output as maximum along with torque output of 175 Nm. The diesel hatch back of the Polo GT series comes powered with a 1.6 litre turbo charged diesel engine that is capable of producing 105 PS power at the peak along with 250 Nm of torque. The petrol version of Polo GT comes mated with a 7 speed DSG transmission gear box as standard and it assures around 17.1 kmpl mileage on an average.

As a new edition of the Polo hatch back is due to be launched, Volkswagen might have decided to stop the production of current gen variants. The upcoming edition of the Polo GT TSI comes fitted with a 1.2 litre four cylinder turbo charged engine that could produce around the same power output produced in the former edition and the base Polo petrol hatch back also continues to be offered with the same three cylinder 1.2 litre engine. Both the base diesel hatch back and the GT TDI hatch back comes fitted with a 1.5 litre engine with power outputs of 89 bhp and 104 bhp respectively.

The upcoming Edition of Polo hatch back will have a wide range of cosmetic changes such as revised bumpers in the front as well as on the rear. A new set of head lights and a set of tail lights can be expected along with a set of Day time running LEDs. The brand new Edition of Polo has been revealed at the Paris Motor Show which was held earlier this year and we expect the same to reach Indian market by the end of this festive season most probably.
