Skoda Yeti Facelift to be launched by end of 2014 – Tackles Renault Duster, Ford Eco Sport, Toyota Innova and Mahindra Scorpio

Skoda’s Indian portfolio is fulfilled with the addition of refreshed editions of the Superb and Rapid sedans earlier this year. Almost all the models of the manufacturer launched in the Indian market have received upgrades or facelifts but the midsized Sports Utility Vehicle ‘Yeti’ has not been upgraded since very long time. Though the manufacturer has launched the ‘Yeti Facelift’ at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, it took almost one year for the same to reach India. The respective prototype was displayed at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo in February and it is expected to reach for production by the end of this year.

Yeti Facelift has received a wide number of cosmetic changes when compared with the former edition of the model. The new look of the midsized SUV has attracted majority of the buyers around the world and the same response is expected from the Indian buyers as well. The front fascia of the Facelift edition Yeti comes fitted with a revised front bumper and a set of larger rectangular shaped head lights. A set of day time running LEDs will add to the elegance of the vehicle along with the optional set of bi xenon lights. The rear end gets equipped with a set of the trendy ‘C’ shaped tail lights and a new rear bumper has also been added.

We can expect the new edition of the SUV to get 16 inch alloy wheels and the same power train is expected to be carried over. Skoda is going to offer the Yeti Facelift in diesel version only but we can expect distinct variants of the model with various transmission choices. The base version of the model gets powered with a turbo charged 2.0 litre four cylinder engine that could produce around 110 PS power at the peak along with 250 Nm of torque. Skoda is likely to offer two different variants of the base range with Front wheel drive and four wheel drive systems respectively. A 5 speed manual transmission gear box or a 6 speed manual transmission gear can be expected to accompany the same.
