Renault Duster 4X4 by end of 2014 – Mahindra Scorpio, XUV500, Ford Eco Sport Toyota Fortuner and Innova in trouble

Renault Duster is one of the leading Sports Utility Vehicles in the Indian market currently and the model has kept the momentum at the peak since its debut in India. The streak of Mahindra Scorpio was obstructed by Duster and it has also succeeded in tackling the most discussed Ford Eco Sport head on without any difficulty. The 4 X 4 edition of the Duster SUV has been spotted in India last year but there was no further update about the model since then. To the surprise of all, Renault has confirmed the launch of the 4 X 4 edition Duster SUV in India.

As per the information, Renault India has officially confirmed about the launch of the 4 X 4 edition Duster and the launch is expected to be made by the end of this year. The former edition Duster is a huge success in the Indian market since its launch in the year 2012. Duster has earned 23 % of the market share in the SUV segment of Indian market in 2012. The 4 X 2 edition of Duster was offered in India both in petrol and diesel versions but the demand for Petrol variant is considerably low. Renault is likely to offer Duster 4 X 4 in global markets in both petrol and diesel versions whereas Indian market would get diesel version only.

The diesel version may get powered with a 1.5 litre four cylinder engine that produces 107 hp at the peak along with 240 Nm of torque. Both the variants would get fitted with a 6 speed manual transmission gear box as standard and there would be no other choice for the buyer in India. We could expect the 4 X 4 edition of Renault Duster SUV to be around Rs. 80k to Rs. 1 lakh costlier than the 4 X 2 edition most probably.
