Separate Common Entrance Test for Private Medical College Admissions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana?

The demand of separate common entrance test for private medical college admissions is likely to be approved. NTR health university may announce this officially soon. a letter is written to Medical Council of India for guidelines on filling of NRI quota seats in medical colleges.

Vijayawada: NTR health university is likely to announce special common entrance test for private medical colleges. It is likely that private medical colleges will be conducting their own entrance exam similar to EAMCET to admit students into MBBS and dental courses. the test will mostly be conducted by higher education council. Discussions are going on between the private medical colleges and higher education council officials to sort out differences on some issues.

Admission procedure for private medical and dental colleges will be done through counseling and if this comes into implementation even management quota seats will be filled in through counseling, this ensure transparency in the admission procedure. NTR university officials will discuss this matter with Andhra Pradesh and Telagana state governments and will release an official announcement.

Presently 60% of the medical college seats are filled based on the rank obtained by the candidates in EAMCET. Remaining forty percent seats are filled by private college managements based on the marks obtained by the candidates in Intermediate. Fifteen percent of the management quota seats are allotted for NRIs. There are many complaints relating to filling of NRI quota seats and thus the officials are planning to implement counseling method for these seats also. few other states are filling the NRI seats directly without any admission test and the officials are gathering information from these states. The official wrote a letter to Medical council of India to give guidelines to them. after they receive the guidelines, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana chief ministers will be approached. It is likely that talented students will get fair chances of getting admissions into medical and dental colleges under management quota.

Private medical colleges are demanding conducting separate entrance test and if their proposal is approved only 2400 sets in fifteen government colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be filled through EAMCET and the remaining seats will be filled by the private medical college entrance tests. Fifteen percent of NRI seats are likely to be filled directly.
