EAMCET 2014: More than one Lakh Engineering Seats to Remain Vacant this Year

EAMCET 2014 results are out and counselling is going to start from June 29 for engineering stream and counselling for medical stream will begin on July 15. There are more than three lakh seats in engineering in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana districts and only two lakh students qualified. Nearly one lakh seats are going to be vacant this year.

Vijayawada: EAMCET 2014 results were declared yesterday. Top ten rankers in engineering stream this year are boys. In medical and agriculture stream, top ten rankers are girls. The ranks were released in Hyderabad yesterday.

2,66,820 candidates appeared for engineering exam in EAMCET 2014 and 1,88,831 qualified. 1,06,396 candidates appeared for medical and agriculture entrance test and 33,094 candidates who qualified in EAMCET have failed in Intermediate.

It is informed that engineering counselling will begin on June 29. Admission counselling in medical stream counselling also is likely to begin from July 15. OMR sheets of students appeared in EAMCET 2014 will be available in EAMCET website from today 5.00 pm till 13 June. Students can file their objections till 13th of this month via AP Online, Mee-seva, E-seva centres. For these SC/ST students need to pay Rs. 2,000 and other students need to pay Rs. 5,000. If there is found to be mistakes in valuation, marks will be allotted to the students and fee will be returned back. Many students lost marks due carelessness in filling the OMR sheet.

This year more than one lakh seats are going to remain vacant. There are more than 3.20 lakh seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. Only 2,15,336 students qualified in the test. More than one lakh students are going to remain vacant. Apart from this, students who take admission in other states are going to be around 25,000 and this will further increase the vacant seats.

EAMCET 2014 ranks are not allotted to 1782 engineering stream candidates and 1434 medical and agriculture stream candidates as these students did not provide complete information. Rank cards of EAMCET 2014 can be downloaded from EAMCET website from June 14. There seems to be only one mistake in the answer key released by the officials.

Education minister of Telangana G Jagadish Reddy announced that the counselling for engineering students will start on June 29 and medicine stream counselling will starts on July 15. The OMR sheets can be checked online at www.apeamcet.org and grievances can be submitted from June 10 to June 13. Rank cards can be downloaded from June 14.
