Apple And Google Enter Into New Era Of Cooperation

On Friday, Apple and Google announced that they have settled all patent litigation on Motorola Mobility. However, this deal does not include any licensees sharing between two firms.

New Delhi: Both Apple and Google agreed to cooperate in patent reformation. In 2011, Google acquired Motorola for 12.5 billionbut sold off the handsets business to Lenovo in 2014. The majority of Motorola’s technology licenses will remain with Google.

This agreement confirms the dismissals of some cases which are still not solved, but it is not expected to have negative impact on Apple’s patent litigations against Samsung. In first trial, Apple was awarded $930 and in second trial was awarded $119.6 million. Samsung has confirmed that it will appeal against the verdicts made and will fight hard for cases which are still pending.

In 2010, Apple and Motorola fought each other in court when Motorola launched case against Apple of patent. Apple answered back with a suit for using its patents against Motorola but both cases were dismissed by the court at once. Recently, Apple appealed court sales ban against Motorola. Both sides are still waiting for the verdict meanwhile google and apple get together in new business cooperation forgetting old litigations.

Apple and Motorola settle their disputes

Today both the International companies of smart phone Apple and Motorola announced that they have agreed to dismiss a patent suit that they had been having against each other. The smart phone made by Motorola and the Apple iphone smart phone that run on the Android OS had been filled a law suit that claimed patent infringements in both the smart phones.

However, the two smart phone companies dismissed the suit as it was voluntarily. There is no cross-licensing agreement between both the companions. According to the Reutersthe companies said that the settlement does not require a cross license to their respective patents However, both companies are agreeing to work together on patent reform.
