T20 World Cup 2014: India Enters Semi Finals by Defeating Bangladesh by 8 Wickets

India entered the semi finals of T20 world cup 2014 by defeating Bangladesh here in Mirpur. India is to play another Super-10 match against Australia. But the team already qualified for the semi finals.

Mirpur: A hat-trick win for India for T20 World Cup 2014. Batting is the strength of India but bowling played a crucial role in the victor of Team India over Bangladesh by 8 wickets. Rohit and Kohli shines once again in batting and the team chased the target in just 18.3 overs losing 2 wickets.

India won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh scored 138 runs by losing 7 wickets. Ashwin claimed two wickets by giving 15 runs on Mishra claimed 3 wickets. Ashwin is declared the ‘man of the match’. India will play its last group match with Australia on April 30.

India won the first two matches against Pakistan and West Indies chasing the target. Opener Shikhar Dhawan failed in another match and scored only one run. Rohit and Kohli once again made a partnership of more than 100 runs. In the first four overs, India scored 18 runs. But after that both the batsmen scored hit fours and sixes. Rohit went to pavilion in the bowling of Motaja and Dhoni came in his place. He scored 22 runs in 12 balls with one for and two sixes and remained not out. Dhoni did not get a chance to bat till now in this tourney. He hit a big six in the bowling of Rahman to reach the target.

Earlier Bangladesh lost its openers in the fourth over of their innings. It lost Iqbal and Rahman’s wicket in consecutive balls in the bowling of Ashwin. Bangladesh lost another wicket in the very next over and its score was 21 for 3. Anamul Huq played responsibly and he was supported by Rahim. Both the batsmen added 46 runs to the fourth wicket. The team’s score in the 13th over was 82/5. In the last over of the inning Bangladesh scored 40 runs.

Presently Team India is on top of the Group 2 points tablet with six points followed by West Indies. Today Netherland will play opposite New Zealand and another match is played between England and South Africa.

In another match West Indies defeated Australia by six wickets. This improved the chances of West Indies to enter the semifinal.
