Review of Toshiba Excite Pro 10.1 Tablet: Toshiba Excite Pro with Bluetooth Keyboard

Toshiba Excite Pro 10.1 tablet might sound just like one of the tablets until one goes into the decent specs it offers. It has a super high resolution screen with 2560×1600 pixel over its 10.1 inch diagonal surface. The Tegra 4 processor supplies the same power as an altogether different surface — Microsoft Surface 2.

Tokyo: The Toshiba Excite Pro 10.1 runs on Android and also sports a 32GB kit called AT-10LE-A-10D. It comes with a Bluetooth keyboard and case included. While this model costs 475 Pounds there is another cheaper 16GB tablet at 320 Pounds.

The first looks of the Toshiba Excite Pro 10.1 tablet is not any wave of excitement. It is a case-meets-keyboard combination. It grips the tablet nice and tight. But once it releases the tablet itself is a good handy set. At less than 10 mm thickness, the tablet is extremely lightweight with a textured finish at the back for better grip.

Though the upper left side gets a bit hot, that’s where the tablet is working it hardest because that’s where the chip is. It is quite comfortable in the hand. To the front there is ample bezel surrounding the 10.1 inch panel which makes the tablet look small but not any discomfit.

Except for a small Toshiba logo to the bottom corner, its straight forward black and silver fare. The micro SD, mini HDMI and mini USB ports, volume up and down control and 3.5 mm mic jack for plugging in headphones are to the side. Except for an on button at the top, the other sides are bare of controls.

The speakers, by renowned audio brand Harman Kardon are positioned towards the rear more towards the edges. This positioning is however faulty as the purpose of the speakers is lost while using them. The Android operating system might remind us of smart phones. But to run a variety of tasks on a laptop or tablet on it is great. Toshiba shares a lot of features with the Asus Transformer Pad and similarly it is easy to get along with the on-board software for word processing, movies, emails and even gaming.
