Gionee announced a new smartphone in the Elife series. Dubbed as Elife S5.5 is available for pre-order in China for $370. This is the slimmest smartphone in the world. It will be offered in 3G and LTE variants and will be launched in 40 countries.

Beijing: Gionee launched a new smartphone in China dubbed as Gionee Elife S5.5. This is the slimmest smartphone in the world, claims, Gionee. The Chinese mobile maker is going to launch the smartphone forty countries and India is one of them.

As the name suggests, Elife S5.5 comes with a body thickness of 5.5 mm. The handset dethroned Vivo X3 which is the slimmest smartphone in the world till now. S5.5 comes with 5 inch display and is powered by 1.7 GHz octa core MediaTek processor. The processor is backed by 2 GB RAM and is provided with 16 GB internal storage. Memory can be expandable via micro SD. There is a 2300 mAh non removable battery under the hood. The handset run son Amigo operating system 2.0. This is the operating system developed by Gionee and is based on Android 4.2 Jelly bean operating system. It features 13 megapixel primary camera and 5 megapixel front facing camera.

Gionee launched Elife S5.5 for $370 in China. It will be offered in 3G and 4G LTE variants. The 3G version of the device is likely to be launched in India also.
