LG G Pad 8.3 to get 4G Connectivity: 4G LTE Version Model VK810

A model of the 4G LTE version of LG G Pad 8.3 cleared the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently for an upcoming release. The tablet named VK810 that made it through the FCC is capable of running Verizon 4G LTE. The model resembled the LG G Pad 8.3. The 4G connectivity enables it for long distance communications from anywhere, for example the user could make VoIP calls.

Chicago: While this version appears to be for US network provider Verizon it is hoped that international models will also be following this. The specifications will be the same as LG G Pad 8.3 including Snapdragon 600 CPU, 2 GB RAM and 4600mAh battery.

The LG G Pad 8.3 is a tablet with ample screen space yet not difficult to hold in one hand. LG G offers some features like Qpair where the user can pair with a smart phone to get text messages or phone call notifications. Some of the gesture features of the smart phone are also there. The size is just between Nexus 7 and the Note 10.1, which is a good offer for users.

The feel of the LG G Pad which has a metal back is good and firm and holds the device together well. There are a couple of stereo speakers and a camera at the rear. While the speakers do not get blocked when holding the device in landscape mode, the camera seems to be a waste of space like on any tablet. There is a front facing camera — where a tablet camera should be — which is 1.3 megapixel and caters to720p.

There is a microSD slot which can take cards up to 64 GB which is advantageous for expanding storage. Yet the G Pad is quite sufficient to carry loads of things without cluttering the limited 16 GB internal storage. There are some software buttons at the bottom of the screen which can be customized. There are some minor irritants like two buttons with the same icon but doing different things. But this is part of the User Interface (UI) design which could make Android devices confusing than other operating systems.

It has only the 4.2.2 version of Android OS which the company says will be upgraded to 4.4 kitkat. Also it has said that there will be a Google Play version of the G Pad.
