5th Chief Information Commissioner of CIC is Sushma Singh

19.12.2013: 5th Chief Information Commissioner of CIC is Sushma Singh. She has taken oath at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Sushma was appointed by a panel which consists of Man Mohan Singh Prime Minister, Kapil Sibal Law Minister and Sushma Swaraj, Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha. She is the 2nd woman appointed to this post. First woman was Deepak Sandhu.

Harsha Kumar Taken Charge as Chairman of NABARD

19.12.2013: Harsha Kumar Bhanwala has taken Charge as Chairman of NABARD. In September 2013, Prakash Bakshi retired from this position. After that, Snehlata Shrivastava has taken additional charge for this post. She was Additional secretary Department of Financial services, Ministry of Finance.

19.12.2013: Canara Bank Received License to open a branch in Newyork. License was received from Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve System, as stated by RK Dubey Chairman and Managing Director of Canara Bank.

Ananthasubramanian Appointed as Independent Director in MCX

19.12.2013: Ananthasubramanian Appointed as Independent Director in MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange of India). He is a practising company secretary from Mumbai. Ananthasubramanian was nominated by FMC (Forward Markets Commission). He will act as independent director till the end of March 2016.

ICC Test Rankings Issued

19.12.2013: Latest ICC Test Rankings released on 19th December 2013. In the batting list, Cheteshwar Pujara who belongs to India has dropped to 7th position. In the boiling chart, Ashwin steady at 5th position. South Africa’s Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers are continuing to head the rankings for test batsmen.

Odhisha Administrative Tribunal quashed SEBC Quota in Public employment

19.12.2013: Under Odhisha Reservation of posts and Services (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) Act 2008, Odhisha Administrative Tribunal quashed the provision of 27% reservation for SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) candidates in Public employment. Tribunal has taken the decision. Chairman of the tribunal is Justice Nityananda Pruty, and administrative member of the tribunal is SN Das.

19.12.2013: Show cause notices were sent to Jayaswal Neco Industries and Adami Power. These were issued by coal Ministry for delay in developing the mines allocated to them for captive use.

Rs.6600 crores Interest Free Loans for sugar mills

19.12.2013: To ease the cane payment burden, Rs.6600 crores Interest Free Loans are providing for sugar mills. This proposal was approved by cabinet committee on Economic Affairs, as stated by KV Thomas Food Minster.

Weather Portal Launched in Haryana

19.12.2013: With the intension to provide weather report to the farmers, web portal was launched in Haryana by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister of Haryana. Website address of this portal is http://emausamhau.gov.in. Till now 75000 farmers registered in this portal.

Annual Plan of Rs.20, 000 crores approved by Kerala Cabinet

19.12.2013: Kerala State Annual plan for 2014-15 with a total outlay of Rs.20, 000 crores was approved by state Cabinet. It is 17.65% higher than current year’s plant, as stated by Oommen Chandy Chief Minister of Kerala.
