Bharat Ratna Award to Sachin and Prof.CN Rao

16.11.2013: Government has decided to give Bharat Ratna Award to Sachin Tendulkar (Cricket Player) and Prof.CNR Rao (Eminent Scientist). Bharat Ratna is the Nation‘s highest civilian award. Till 2011, this award was given to famous personalities in Literature, art, music, dance and Social sector. Modification happened in 2011. According to this modification, sports persons are also having right to receive this award. Sachin is the first sports person to receive this award.

GVK EMRI Won SKOCH Award

16.11.2013: In the health category, GVK Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI) won SKOCH Award. This award was presented at 34th SKOCH summit in New Delhi. Union Minister for Finance P. Chidambaram and Monatek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission was given this award to K.Krishnam Raju, Director of GVK EMRI.

Sachin Ends his Career by winning over West Indies

16.11.2013: Sachin Tendulkar has given the victory to India in his retirement match against West Indies. India won against West Indies with 126 runs. Man of the Match for this match is Pragyan Ojha. Man of the series is Rohit Sharma. India won this series with the difference of 2-0.

Bengal Stood at top in 23rd GV Mavalankar Shooting Championship

16.11.2013: In the Medals list, 23rd All India GV Mavalakar Shooting Championship, West Bengal Stood at Top Position. At national level Shooting Champion, Bengal stood at top position for the first time in the medals list. West Bengal got a bronze, 5 Silver and 5 Gold Medals. Second place occupied by Maharashtra with 3 bronze medals, 5 Silver and 4 Gold Medals. Chandigarh stood at 3rd position with 1 Bronze, 1 Silver and 3 Gold.

INS Vikramaditya Inducted into Indian Navy

16.11.2013: With the intension to boost India’s Maritime warfare Capabilities, INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier inducted into Indian Navy. INS Vikramaditya was commissioned by Dmitry Rogozin, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and AK Antony, Union Defence Minister.

International Tolerance Day Observed

16.11.2013: International Tolerance Day was observed across the world on 16th November. This day was observed to make the society understand the dangers of intolerance and need for the tolerance. This day was first started in 1995.

16.11.2013: National Press Day celebrated across the country. This is the day on which the Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watchdog to ensure that not only did the press maintain the high standards expected from this powerful medium but also that it was not fettered by the influence or threats of any extraneous factors. This day is the symbol for the free and responsible press in India.

An Agreement between GRSE and Indian Navy

16.11.2013: Indian Navy to sign a MoU with GRSE (Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited) for warships project. This was announced at CII organised meet by Rear Admiral AK Verma Retd, CMD of GRSE.
