Telangana Note Gets Central Cabinet Approval

Cabinet committee approved the Telangana Note. The note was presented with the approval of Prime minister and after discussing about one and half hours, the cabinet approved the note. Hyderabad will be common capital for ten years and central government will give necessary funds for the construction of capital for Seemandhra. The note will not be sent to the President of India.

New Delhi: Central cabinet meeting was held in the residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi this evening. Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde proposed the formation of Telangana state along with Hyderabad. The cabinet meeting continued for more than one and half hours. Jaipal Reddy, Pallam Raju and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao who are ministers from AP also attended the meeting.

Telangana note was presented before the cabinet as table item with the approval of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Congress working committee has taken a decision for the formation of Telangana state on 30th September. The note was prepared and home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde signed the note today. A twenty page note was prepared with the name Andhra Pradesh re-organization. It is informed that the issues of capital city, river waters and geography of Andhra Pradesh were discussed in the note.

Formation of Telangana state with Hyderabad as the capital was proposed in the note. It was also said in the note that Hyderabad will be common capital for ten years. Pallam Raju and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao opposed the note, it is said.

Sushil Kumar Shinde spoke to the media after the cabinet meeting. He said the cabinet has taken decision to for a new state Telangana from the existing Andhra Pradesh state. Group of ministers will be formed to see discuss the problems. He also said that Hyderabad will be common capital for both the states for ten years. The meet approved by the central cabinet will now be sent to the president. He will send it to Andhra Pradesh state assembly for approval. Necessary funds for construction of capital to Andhra Pradesh will be given by the center, the note said. Special attention will be paid to the under developed areas in all the three regions, it said.

There have been protests in the Seemandhra region after CWC announced the formation of separate state. It now remains to be seen the reaction of the Seemandhra ministers.
