Google Wallet update removes dependency on NFC chip : Google Wallet is now compatible all Android devices of 2.3 or higher

Google’s wonderful Android application Google Wallet has come with new update removing the dependency on NFC chip. Google Wallet is definitely going to be a big success among Android applications. Now, Google Wallet is compatible with all devices having Android 2.3 or higher.

Chicago: Google Wallet has arrived finally through a long way without any constraints. In the last update about Google Wallet when Google moved all the data to the cloud to offer high security which various banks expect, it has been announced that all credit cards could then be used peacefully. But even then, still Google Wallet app requires devices with NFC chips which made the app compatible to limited devices only.

Today, a rollout of an update to Google Wallet has completely changed the nature of application. Currently, the option to pay with a tap still exists only if you have NFC. But Google has removed the dependency on NFC i.e. made the app compatible with all Android devices running 2.3 version or higher. For the users who do not have NFC, Google has provided additional options to transfer money like PayPal which has been rolling out in Gmail for a while.

Google Wallet now supports loyalty cards and offers additionally. Users can add various loyalty cards for hotels, airlines and other businesses so that they can have them on phone ready to scan when they are at the checkout. So, with this latest update people need not carry actual cards anymore. Google says that the app will also send notifications to the user when he stays near a store for which he is having loyalty card.

Based on the same location tracking, Google Wallet will be integrated with Google Offers and others which we find on Google+, Google Maps and coupon sites like Valpak. Users will be able to save the offers and can be used while checking out at the relative store. This latest update is definitely bigger and is likely striving towards Google’s dream project of replacing our physical wallets.
