1st ODI India Vs Zimbabwe: Kohli, Rayudu Lead India to Win over Zimbabwe by 6 Wickets

Virat Kohli and Rayudu Lead India to easy win in the first one day international match in the five ODI series in Zimbabwe. India reached the target of 229 runs set by Zimbabwe in 44.5 overs. Virat Kohli hit a century and Rayudu scored 63 runs.

Harare: the first one day match between India and Zimbabwe in the five ODI series 2013 was played today. India defeated Zimbabwe by 6 wickets. Zimbabwe set a target of 229 runs for India. Team India achieved the target in 44.5 overs by losing 4 wickets. Virat Kohli scored a century and Ambati Rayudu made 63 runs. Sikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina were the other batsmen out.

India won the toss and asked Zimbabwe to bat first. In the 50 overs, Zimbabwe lost 7 wickets and scored 228 runs. Sikander Raja was the highest scorer in Zimbabwe team with 82 runs. Amit Mishra claimed 3 wickets.

Virat Kohli who is leading Team India for this series scored a century in the first match. He made a century in 102 balls with eleven fours. This is the 15th century of Kohli in one day matches. India lost two wickets for 57 runs. Kohli played a captain innings and scored 115 runs in 108 balls with 13 fours and one sixer. Hyderabad batsman Ambati Rayudu also scored a half century. Zimbabwe played the Indian bowlers with ease. By the end of 28 overs Zimbabwe lost only one wicket and scored 95 runs. Opener Sibanda was sent back to pavilion by Indian bowler Mishra. Sibanda scored 34 runs.

Final scores are – Zimbabwe 228 for seven and India 230 for four. After the win Virat Kohli said that he is very happy to win the first match in the series. He praised the bowlers and also Ambati Rayudu who is given a chance to play in an international one day match after a long time. He scored 63 runs in this match utilizing the opportunity well.
