Will India reach T20 World Cup 2012 Semi Finals?:
Playing the last match of Super Eight Series will be beneficial to Indian team. If Pakistan gets defeated in the match against Australia, then it won’t be much difficult for Indian team to semi finals. It is enough for Dhoni’s team to score a victory on South Africa. There is no need to worry about run rate, and other calculations. In such situation, if India losses the match to South Africa, then the points of India, South Africa and Pakistan will become same, then run rate will play crucial role. But if Pakistan wins over Australia, then India needs to win over South Africa at any cost. Then, either India or Pakistan will enter semi finals based on their run rate. On the whole, if Dhoni’s team could win the match against South Africa, they can enter Semi Finals.
How can Pakistan Confirm its Seat in T20 World Cup Semi Finals?:
Condition of Pakistan is also similar to that of India. For improving its chances to enter Semi Finals, it has got win over the match against Australia. And that too, with better run rate. Pakistan which is very much unpredictable regarding performance, have to face Australia which has not faced even a single defeat in this tournament. Australia seems to be a perfect blend of batting and bowling lineup, but Pakistan is not in good form. In this context, success of Australia seems to be a cake walk. By now itself Australia has confirmed semi finals ticket for itself. Pakistan is having one victory and one loss and hence it will gain four points if it wins the match against Australia. But it has to wait for the result of match between India and South Africa. If South Africa looses in that match, India will also have four points. Then the team with better run rate will go to semi finals.
Can Australia enter semi finals of T20 World Cup?:
Australia is the only team which has confirmed the semi finals berth for itself. It has won both the match it played and hence it is having four points now itself. It didn’t face defeat in any match till now in this tournament. Hence it is confirmed to enter semi finals.
Can South Africa enter Semi Finals of T20 World Cup?
South Africa has already lost two matches in Super Eight league. For South Africa to get in to semi finals, it has to win over the match against India and hope to see that Australia defeats Pakistan. Even then, their chances for entering Semi Finals are very weak, because they don’t have healthy run rate.

Sorry to correct you, but a small mistake in the article. I agree that australia have won two matches and are in a commandable possition. But their semi final birth is not yet confirmed. If both pakistan and india win their matches by a margin of more than 40 runs(which is most unlikely) than they will have 4 points each and also superior runrate than australia and team australia cannot make it to Semifinals.
