Mahindra Scorpio with AT Spotted – Tackles Tata Safari Storme, Toyota Innova, Maruti Ertiga and Nissan Evalia

The Native Indian automotive giant Mahindra is planning to launch one more variant of the Scorpio series which is going to be debuted by the mid 2015 most probably. Scorpio is the most successful SUV model from Mahindra and it is also one of the best selling models till date since its debut. An enthusiast has spotted a test mule of the next gen Scorpio which was being tested on roads near Nashik.

Scorpio has a huge fan base in the Indian market and the demand for the model is not less than any other recently introduced Sports Utility Vehicles. A number of special edition variants of the Scorpio series have been launched so far and all of those variants went successful across the country. But the manufacturer has not revealed even a single variant of the SUV with automatic transmission so far and the upcoming edition is going to fulfil the same. As per the information, the next gen Scorpio is going to sport Automatic Transmission gear box but there may not be any change in the engine configuration. We can notice slight exterior changes from the respective set of spy images.

Mahindra is currently offering two distinct engine options with Scorpio SUV. The base variant of the model gets powered with a 2.5 litre four cylinder m2DiCr diesel engine that is capable of generating around 75 bhp power at the peak and it comes mated with manual transmission gear box. We may not see the base variant of next gen Scorpio with AT mostly. All the higher end variants of the model come fitted with a 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine that generates around 120 bhp power at the peak along with 280 Nm of torque. We can expect the same to get mated with an Automatic Transmission gear box very soon.

The upcoming Scorpio SUV is likely to get a 6 speed automatic transmission gear box mostly and we can expect a price hike with the addition of AT.
