Tamil Nadu ex chief minister Jayalalitha’s bail petition is rejected by the Karnataka High Court. The case of Jayalalitha was argued by famous lawyer Ram Jethmalani. Jaya’s supporters were anxiously waiting for the judgment. Jayalalitha was awarded four years prison and Rs. 100 crore fine for unaccounted for wealth.

Bangalore: High security arrangements were made at the court as large number of Jaya’s followers gathered outside the court. 144 section was implemented in the surrounding of the court.

There was high tension today in Bangalore as posters appeared at various places in Bangalore warning that if Jaya did not get bail, Kannada people in Tamil Nadu will be kidnapped. Jaya appealed to Karnataka high court and her case was argued by Ram Jethmalani. She was in jail from September 27 this year.

Jayalalitha’s followers were performing pujas, Yagas and several ministers and MLAs are fasting at Merina beach at Chennai.

Karnataka government faced many problems with Jayalalitha in jail. As per the rules, all the prisoners have to wear white sarees but AIADMK chief refused to do it. The government even wanted to send Jayalalitha to some jail in Tamil Nadu.

As soon as Jayalalitha was jailed, all ministers in cabinet resigned. Panneer Selvam, was sworn-in as chief minister. The new chief minister continued the old cabinet. During the sworn-in ceremony, all the ministers including Panneer Selvam were in tears.

After the sworn-in ceremony all the ministers and the chief ministers went to Bangalore to meet Jayalalitha but she refused to meet any one. Charge sheet was filed against her eighteen years ago. Judgment was given on September 27. Four others along with Jayalalitha were awarded jail for four years. Immediately after the judgment is delivered they were taken to central jail in Bangalore.

Jayalalitha is one of the powerful political leader in Tamil Nadu. She was also a popular actress who acted in more than hundred films. She served as chief minister of that state for four years.
