BJP Government Able To Do Small Beginning

The new BJP government headed by Modi is able to do small beginning on some of the major issues facing our country.

New Delhi: Beginning is always small. The first step is the key for success even in marathon races. The BJP government on this account is able to do beginning – though very small – on two important issues facing India.

India has been victim of many problems due to policies of earlier rulers. One of the same is black money. Despite many views expressed by people and judiciary, the previous governments did not dare to disclose the names of the persons/organizations holding black money in foreign countries. As a matter of fact, the issue of black money took front seat in recent general elections as well.

As directed by the Supreme Court, the Government of India, today disclosed names of 3 persons/organizations holding black money in foreign countries. The initial response from the accused remained on anticipated lines. All the three denied having any black money in foreign countries.

Now there come more questions before the government that needs to answer to the people of the country and some of them are:

  • Genuinity of the first list of black money holders
  • The quantum of black money held by these account holders
  • The follow up action on these three account holders
  • The names of remaining account holders
  • If there are any chances to get the black money back to India – as promised by the BJP during the election campaign.

The government is also required to come open why it selected partial disclosure of names and the basis for the criteria (of partial disclosure).

When the BJP government is able to do a small beginning in terms of black money, there is bigger problem within the country. As per the recent reports, nearly 400 MPs’ (belonging to various political parties including BJP) are yet to declare their assets. Some of the union cabinet ministers are also forming part of the mentioned 400 MP’s.

Government need to act fast to ensure that the government, ministers and MP’s are following the rules (in relation to disclosure of assets) so that they can set a good precedence for the people of this country. The government is also required to clear the status that it is going against our leaders who could not declare their assets within the prescribed time limit.
