Elgato Eve Makes Homes Happy To Live In: Launched New Smarthome Products at IFA 2014

A slew of smart home products were announced by Elgato at IFA 2014 which will work on Apple’s new HomeKit platform that is yet to be announced with more details soon. The Elgato Smart Lighting system was among the new products that were explained along with the home monitoring system called Eve. The latter is meant to create clever homes.

Berlin: The Elgato home monitoring system is a network of a number of sensors that will let us know how our home environment is like. The sensors work in a way to let us in to all the information to allow us to make a difference in our homes. It is the same way a tracker pulls you off your sofa to exercise rather than make you skinny physically.

The Elgato Eve monitoring system will give us information for us to make a change for example energy consumption.

The system runs on iOS and according to the company it is integrated with Apple’s HomeKit. But it did not elaborate on this. In fact the sticker HomeKit was removed from the stand. However, the system will offer data on air quality, temperature and humidity of a room as well as energy and water consumption.

A few of the sensors include Eve Room, Eve Energy, Eve Water, Eve Smoke and Eve Door and Window. Of them, Eve Room and Eve Weather were displayed at the IFA 2014. Both the sensors are small, white boxes with small logos at the bottom right hand corner to identify them. They are designed to blend with the walls of a room without interfering with the decor.

The Eve Room monitors temperature, humidity and air pressure of a room and the sensor gives a list of rooms whose environment can be thus analysed. In fact every room needs to be sensitised with a sensor to monitor each room.
