Two Indian Origin won Global Prizes in the field of Mathematics
13.08.2014: Two Indian Origins won Global Prizes in the field of Mathematics. This prize is known as Nobel Prize of Mathematics. International Mathematical Union had given these awards to Manjul Bhargava (Field Medal) and Subhash Khot (Rolf Nevanlinna Prize). Awards were presented at International Congress of Mathematicians meet 2014 which was held in Seoul.
4 Judges taken charge as Supreme Court Judges
13.08.2014: 4 Judges had taken charge as Supreme Court Judges. Those judges were Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre (59 years old), Justice R Bhanumathi (58 years old), Prafulla Chandra Pant (62 years old) and Uday Umesh Lalit. Pant is the judge to Meghalaya, Sapre is Judge to Gauhati and Bhanumathi is the Judge to Jharkhand.
Global south Award received by Dr.Sunil Kumar
13.08.2014: Global south Award received by Dr.Sunil Kumar who is Delhi University Professor. He received this award for his excellent work on the politics of the developing world. Award presented at 23rd World congress of political science which was held in Montreal Canada. This award was given by International Political Science Association (IPSA). Sunil was awarded for his paper titled Changing Landscape of Electoral Democracy and Political Demography: A study of 2014 General Elections in India.
First woman to win coveted Fields Medal is Maryam Mirzakhani
13.08.2014: First woman to win coveted Fields Medal is Maryam Mirzakhani. She is Iranian born Mathematician. Her contribution is towards the geometry field (Studied symmetry of curved surfaces such as spheres). These medals were given in Seoul, South Korea.

13.08.2014: First Indian Player to reach Semi Final of World Junior Squash Championship is Kush Kumar. He defeated George Parker of England. This championship held in Windhoek Namibia.

13.08.2014: UEFA Football Super Cup lifted by Real Madrid Football Club which is Spanish Giant. To won this title he defeated Seville football club. UEFA Football Super Cup is the first European trophy of the season.

4 Highway projects in J & k approved by Union Cabinet
13.08.2014: 4 Highway projects in J & k approved by Union Cabinet. These projects are for all weather connectivity in the valley. Those 4 projects were Jammu – Udhampur, Chennai – Nashri, Qazigund- Banihal, and Srinagar-Banihal. Under National Highways Development project of J & K, Cabinet increased fund allocation to around 28324 crores from 8000 crores.

13.08.2014: 2014 Field Medals awarded in Seoul, South Korea. This medal was first presented to Finnish Mathematician Lars Ahlfors and American Mathematician Jesse Douglas. This year award recognised contributions of 4 medallists. Those medallists were Maryam Mirzakhani ( Iranian born Mathematician) – Her contribution is towards the geometry field ( Studied symmentry of curved surfaces such as spheres), Martin Hairer ( University of Warwick) - His contributions to the Theory of Stochastic Partial Differential equations, Manjul Bhargava ( Princeton University)- She was awarded for her developing new approach in the geometry of numbers and Artur Avila ( Institute of Mathematics of Jussieu) – her contributions were in Dynamical Systems Theory.
