Tapsee: Grand Launch Without Much Follow Up

Tapsee Pannu (from Delhi) had a grand launch with none other than K Raghavendra Rao in Telugu but her subsequent movies could not fare well at the box office.

Hyderabad: Tapee Pannu is a model turned actress. She got the excellent opportunity to get introduced to the Telugu film industry by all time great director K Raghavendra Rao. Manchu Manoj starrer Jhummandi Naadam (2010) was this heroine’s launching project.

But due to many reasons her career is not as fine as it should be (after grand launch). Her subsequent movies in various languages (she acted in total 12 movies in Telugu, Tamil & Hindi), could not prove her as stable performer.

Tapsee’s Tamil roles gave her many awards like Vijay Awards & Filmfare awards. Her career in Telugu has not been marked as encouraging. Her career had more average and below average movies. She portrayed lead role opposite Manchu Vishnu in Vastadu Naa Raju (2011), Venkatesh in shadow (2013), Gopichand (Mogudu & sahasam) and also Ravi Teja (Veera & Daruvu).

The only consolation has been that her performance in Mr. Pefect (of Prabhas) & bi-lingual Gundello Godavari received good remarks from the critics.

After Chasme Baddoor (2013) with great actors like Rishi Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Siddharth in the lead role, she is able to grab more opportunities in Bollywood in the form of ‘running shadi.com’ and three more movies in Tamil (Aarambam, Vai Raja Vai & Muni3) which are in post production stage at present.

A quick look at her career indicates that Tapsee gave preference more to glamour and skin show rather than performance and story. Her roles in movies restricted to 2 or 3 songs with the male lead and few dialogues. There appeared neither strong story line nor scope for showing her acting ability.

Before she is forced to wrap her career as short lived glamourous heroine, Tapsee needs to mend her planning and ensure that she gets offers with strong story line and also scope for performance rather than depending solely on glamour.
